This topic should focus on a local or campus issue/problem (ideally connected to your major or extracurricular interest). All topics are subject to my approval. Your job will be to 1) introduce the issue 2) analyze the issue 3) indicate whom it affects/what’s at stake 4) offer a thoughtful stance on the issue and persuade your intended audience to side with your stance and solution. At least six sources (with annotations) are required; at least three of these sources should be scholarly. 

Topic Proposal Criteria (5% of grade: Response to Questions AND Annotated Bibliography) 
this doesn’t have to be in essay form, but do type them in complete sentences and respond thoughtfully (50 points, completion grade):
·         Your major:
·         Your proposed topic/problem from major or extracurricular connected to a local or campus issue:
·         Why did you choose this topic?
·         What you already know about the topic?
·         Whom does the issue affect?
·         What might be your argument or proposed solution? (You may not know yet; that’s okay.)
·         Intended audiences (stakeholders from various backgrounds and academics from a particular field)?
·         How might you appeal to this particular audience in terms of language, organization, and structure?
·         What sources might you seek and use? Why? What search terms are be appropriate?
·         Optional: What questions or concerns do you have?
    Annotations (50 points)
·         Includes at least 6 appropriate sources, 3 of which are scholarly (note that interviews are welcome!) 10
·         Critically and thoughtfully examines each source 20
·         Correctly cited and organized 10
·         The annotations are written in complete sentences and are clear. Someone who hasn’t read that source would understand its purpose, field/methodology, and validity 10
